Lovely Day and a little play ....

Hi there,
Thanks for popping in.
Paul and I have been at Colemans in the Midlands today.
What a cracking place!!
And such lovely staff. How refreshing to go to a shop where the staff are all crafters! It couldn’t have been a better, more pleasant experience. And the icing on the cake? Darling Katie, Joy and Hubby were there too.

So now we have come across to Peterborough, all set for tomorrow.

The first show will be with Tina. She has got a lot to deal with just now, and I did say she shouldn’t worry about the TV show, that Paul and I would figure it out. But she doesn’t want to let us down.
Bless that woman.
If she’s there, great.
If she’s not there, we will figure it out between us.

At 6pm we launch the Jayne Nestorenko Christmas Children.
There are 5 Mega Artstamps plus a Postcard Framer in the collection.

Saturday’s blog a new technique, tight?
New to who? To you? To me?  Here is a glimpse of the Postbox Picture with the lovely dog..

I was playing with different ways to colour in.
I stamped the image on water colour paper with a permanent Archival ink pad: Potting Soil.

I wanted the image to fade towards the bottom, so I just applied less ink and pressure as I dabbed that area.

Now I can add any amount of water and the line art won’t bleed.

Here I used the red A (aqua) pencil from the Perga Liner box.
Added a tiny amount of water with a little brush to move the colour around.

Here, I roughly sketched a little green into the young boy’s clothes
using one of the other pencil types in the box, the B for Basic pencils. These are oily and wax based.

You can see what I am up to here.
I went into the clothes with a blue Aqua pencil,

and then added a little water.
Bingo! The blue moved beautifully, but the green stayed put.
Nice effect.

Now for the beautiful dog.
I decided to try the Artistry inks, and paint with them.
Dabbed way too much on the blending mat, added a tiny amount of water and then spot painted the head and shoulders.

To achieve that watery bleed at the base, simply clean off the brush, use clean water and brush from the base upwith a wet brush, to push the colour upwards.

This Water colour paper is very good.
Good price for the value.

Last test. The Perga Glitter with the mapping pen.
Works great on parchment, but how about on gritty water colour paper?
Easy.

I think you will love Jayne’s scenes.
I certainly do. Every one is as charming as the next.
And we have made them into Stamps AND Groovi -
something for everyone.
Oh. And we’ve been making them for weeeeeks!
So we should have enough to last the 24 hour course.

Love & Hugs,
Barb

  7. Hi Barbara, glad you had a good day. I bet Katie was sooooo excited to see you 😊 Thank you for playing and showing us the different techniques, much appreciated. Looking forward to your shows and seeing Tina's and Jayne's artwork, and what you'll all do with them.

Is sticky ink safe, no VOCs, please can you tell me, thank you?

Who are you trying to kid, enough for 24 hours....

Got my happy post today 😊 Thank you again, for all the effort you put in to make each month's so good. Hope your rash is healing. Don't worry, all your club members will be too busy conjuring up the picture of you that you gave us in your letter... Just be careful what direction you aim your derriere in, with all the paper and card around the studio!!! 😉 Thank you for the amazing member's sale too. I'm taking my time to decide what to get.

  8. Hi Barb,
Glad you've had a good day and I'm sure you made Joy's, Katie's and Hubby's day too. So looking forward to seeing these stamps and plates - Jayne was just so talented. The artwork you've produced for us tonight is wonderful and the colouring is so good. Have the Perga Liners but haven't tried the aqua ones yet. Obviously that will have to change! Hope you have a good night's rest, love and hugs Alison xx

    1. Hi bloggy friends,
Hope everyone has had as good a day as possible. Well we actually saw the sun today for the first time for a week! Had an organising session today - not by plates , but all of my parching tools etc. My Pergamano tools organiser bag came today so ive transferred all my embossing tools, perforating tools and Perga Colours and Liners into it along with scissors, red liner tape, Groovi tabs, tumble dryer sheets and Perga soft. Didn't realise there was so much room in it! I love it! Feel so organised!!
Donna , sorry about the concert being cancelled - gutted for you. Saw it on Breakfast this morning. Hope everyone has their cushions strapped on for tomorrow - I think there might be a few falls! Love and hugs to you all, Alison xxx

  15. Hi Barbara
What a lovely day you've had, great people and pkace to demo and Joy and Katie too. Today's artwork is beautiful. I like the effect the potting soil gives, much softer than black isn't it. I like the pencils, don't they give a good effect.. I'm sure the stamps and groovi will be very well received, hopefully they will be there long enough for you to demo and let's hope poor Steve can get to enjoy some daylight hours for a change rather than the night shift! Please give Tina our love, she's been in my thoughts . I'm just going to put the box on to record so I don't miss you. Have a lovely evening.
    Love Diane xxx

  16. I love your blogs Barbara! Had more practice with my Groovi 'Night before Christmas' plates. Second attempt and I'm getting better and learning from mistakes. Really looking forward to tomorrow's shows. I always learn something, definitely going to dig out a notebook for all the tips and tricks. Checked out the website today and noted your DVDS, think I'll be investing in those; I'm a fan of your YouTube channel.

Glad you sound well, where do you get all the energy from? Wishing Tina all the best. Will catch you tomorrow.

Thanks for all the hard work you and everyone at Clarity do. Your love and dedication shines through. x

  17. Loving the peek at the new artwork by Jayne, recorder is set for tomorrow and Monday. It'll be good to see Tina, if circumstances allow, p'raps she needs a few hours away from her worries, but she'll know what's best and will do what's right for her which is just as it should be! Hope you have a good evening and find a little time to relax xxx

  22. I am so looking forward to the shows today and hope that Tina can join you. We all really appreciate how difficult it must be for her. I had a sneak peek at her new plates and they look beautiful, so I am glad that I held off going mad in the sale until I had seen them. If it was just me, I would be happy to live on beans on toast to save the pennies, and it would also give me more Groovi time, as less time would be needed in the kitchen. Do you think my family would notice?!
Have a great day at Hochanda. X
